Autonics, which is a company that focuses on sensor/control devices, is aiming to make an impact in the packaged semiconductor market with their new color-type Vision Sensor. Their new product can test up to 13 factors including form, color, size, etc. Their goal is to increase market share in the South Korean market, which is currently dominated by Japanese and American companies.
The Autonics Vision Sensor VG series can perform 13 different tests including color/form/size/letters/patterns/etc to verify the task accurately. Since both color-type and mono-type Vision Sensors are equipped with the global shutter method, it is possible to take accurate pictures of moving objects without any kind of distortion or afterimage. In addition, the image of the test result can be stored in the form of data through the FTP server, making it easy to manage and analyze. Currently, Autonics products are applied to photo, film deposition, metal wiring, and packaging lines during the semiconductor manufacturing process. It is applied to bonding, cleaning, assembly, and testing lines in the display field.
South Korea's vision sensor market is highly dependent on Japanese and American products. Because of the high price and complexity of installation and use, foreign products are often difficult to use in the domestic manufacturing environment. Autonics describes their VG series as a 'high-performance sensor that has a high price/performance ratio.' Also, they have emphasized that if the VG series is used, it can lead to simplified wiring and increased efficiency during the manufacturing process.
Autonics is also designing a one-stop solution in the field of an automatic control system for smart factories. An automatic control system consists of three types of products: a sensor that can gather various information, a controller that controls the system, and an actuator (motion device) that moves based on feedback signals. Although Autonics used to conduct research for single products in the automatic control system field, which is their main business area, they are now trying to follow the market trends by strengthening their software and using it to develop an integrated solution.
Since their establishment in 1977, Autonics has concentrated on industrial automation for the past 42 years. The head office of Autonics is located in Busan. Throughout the 42 years, they have built 11 corporations in countries such as Indonesia, Japan, etc. While also establishing a global network that covers over 100 countries worldwide. The sales goal for Autonix in 2018 is 176.5 billion KRW (including 91.5 billion KRW in overseas sales). Their revenue have been on a steady rise in the last 2 years (2016: 138.6 billion KRW, 2017: 149.4 billion KRW). The ratio of researchers are 20% of the entire workforce and the ratio of R&D investment is 12% of total sales.
